Dr. Mike Slana

After completing his veterinary degree at the Ontario Veterinary  College (OVC),  Mike spent two years in mixed practice in Prince Edward Island.  He then went on to pursue his second doctorate in Ruminant Health Management through the Department of Population  Medicine at OVC.. In conjunction with this, he taught at the Atlantic Veterinary College for three years.  His work as a large animal practitioner has included a number of locums throughout the Atlantic Provinces as well as his long term association with the Montague Veterinary Clinic.

A childhood fascination with horses was the single most important factor that pointed Mike in the direction of veterinary school.  While much of his veterinary career has centered on dairy practice, this love of horses has re-surfaced with a vengeance.  To this end, he has been involved in all aspects of the Standardbred industry:  from breeding, raising yearlings, selling young stock, as well as shoeing, training and racing.  The last number of years have continued to sharpen his interest in horse reproduction, ultimately leading to the Linden Lane Farms venture.

Currently he resides on the beautiful Point Prim peninsula with his Bernese Mountain dog "Max".  His free time is spent keeping up with the handyman chores of the farm, enjoying every aspect of playing with horses and periodically trying to lower his golf handicap to a point his friends no longer laugh at his score.
